Martin Kollar’s exhibition Provisional Arrangement is a study of the photographic publication of the same title. The author writes about his project:

I grew up during communism, whose main motto was “With the USSR forever and ever.” At the time, we would add with a laugh: but not a minute longer. To this day, it remains one of the few experiences I have had with eternity. Since then, my life has been filled with negotiating many temporary situations and solutions. People of my generation have grown up, and now we are middle-aged. Temporariness is slipping through our fingers, and we are struggling with endless variations of decay and the emptiness left behind by abandoned old dogmas.

We find ourselves in a complex world without a sense of permanence and certainty. We surround ourselves with temporary friends, we have temporary women, we have temporary dentures, and we prefer temporary places of residence to permanent addresses. Provisional Arrangements is a project about situations involving uncertainty and mystery. It will be a photographic record/portrait capturing the disintegration of permanence into temporary and provisional moments in time and space.
